No need to have your local documents on a shared drive anymore. As soon as you save those local documents on the cloud, they can be accessible to anyone you choose to. Keep in mind that the same people who had access to your Dashboard folders will continue to have access this time with the role of the Folder Editor. If you want more people to access a cloud document or a folder, you can easily invite more.
